Bali Bird Park

The Bali Bird Park in Singapadu, located 20-minute drive from Denpasar, has the most complete collection of birds in Indonesia. It is favorite of kids from kindergarten to high school, particularly for field trips after the school exam in June and July.

There are more than 1425 specimens exhibited in 55 individual enclosures and 10 open aviaries scattered throughout a well-maintained botanical garden. There are 277 strange and wonderful bird species like cassowaries, toucans from Brazil, hornbills from Borneo, pure-white peacocks and Bali Starling (Jalak Bali). Also within its environs is one of the world’s most prized collections of Birds of Paradise, an astonishingly plumed species endemic only to eastern Indonesia.

In a petting area, kids are given the opportunity to pose for photographs with radiant hand-reared birds like macaws, cockatoos and parrots that have been accustomed to people.

The park’s waterfall, towering palms, lotus and water lily ponds and footpaths winding through hundreds of species of tropical flora are worth a visit. The cooing and cackling of birds fill the air. Another special feature of park is an elaborate cool mist-shrouded walk-in aviary where many species are able to fly freely in an authentic cool rainforest environment.

Like a five-star hotel for happy, healthy and clean birds, the well-organized park is equipped with a modern nursery, resident Australian ornithologist and fully trained staff who dispense the perfect avian diet and vitamins.

This unique park is both a caring home for birds and an educational experience for children.  All exhibits are annotated with precise and complete scientific data.
